亞洲專利代理人協會（APAA）2019年年會暨第70屆國際理事會 11月9日~12日在台灣盛大舉辦，來自全球 71 個國家超過 1,700 名代理人參加，適逢 APAA 50周年，主辦方亦安排慶祝活動，讓與會者共同見證這個重要里程碑。

相較於台灣商標申請實務上，往往會建議客戶選擇較上位概念之規範名稱，以擴大商標保護範圍；而USPTO則傾向指定商品名稱必須符合一定程度之說明，避免有心人士惡意搶註類似商標於相似商品類別，侵害真正商標權人之商標權。

台灣〈專利法〉此次修法，對內配合經濟法規的鬆綁，對外因應國際規範的調整，進一步完善制度、提升審查效能，以利產業創新。其中重點內容包括：設計專利權保護期間由12年延長為15年，分割申請案之適用範圍及期限予以放寬等七項重點。
The amendment bill to Taiwan’s Patent Act recently passed by the Legislative Yuan, which extends the term of protection for design patents from 12 to 15 years, aims to create a more robust patent protection system, enhance the case review efficiency of patent remedies and promote industrial innovation.

美國專利商標局(USPTO)於2019年7月2日宣布新規定，要求所有外國商標申請人、註冊人，以及進入商標審理暨訴願委員會程序的當事人，均須由已在美國律師協會有效登錄之執業律師代理。
新規定適用於所有美國境外的商標申請人、註冊人、和當事人（只要永久居所或主要營業所設於美國境外者皆包含在內）。這些申請人、註冊人和當事人的商標案件，皆須由美國律師代理處理。
上述新法規已於2019年8月3日施行。冠群國際專利商標聯合事務所本於高品質服務之自我要求，於修法前所有美國商標申請案已係委託美國執業律師代理，故此項新政策並不影響進行中之案件及有關作業流程。
